穿过核心, 研究, and fieldwork components of the curriculum, you will engage with scholarly 研究, 集成学习, 伦理领导, 有效的沟通, 反思性实践, and community engagement applicable to your clinical 监督 and expertise. A total of 60 units are required for completion of the 程序.

核心课程包括30门.5个单元课程. Students complete 15 units of 研究 Courses and 2.5 units of 研究研讨会 that take place concurrently with the coursework, and allow you to meet with your dissertation chair to begin developing your dissertation.

The practicum and internship experiences (Field Experience) are an integral part of your Ph.D. 程序. Following CACREP standards, a total of 700 hours must be fulfilled.

Only 2 face-to-face residencies are required throughout the 程序 – one of which will be fulfilled during our popular 4-day Kickoff Conference with Dr. Townsend at our 欧文康考迪亚大学 campus in Orange County, CA. Your 700 hours of fieldwork will consist of both practicum and internship experiences and can be completed wherever you live and work.

Finally, the 论文 (12 units) is the culminating project of the doctoral 程序. Under the guidance of a dissertation chair and committee members, you will prepare original 研究 in the field of counseling with a primary emphasis in at least one of the five core content areas of 教育顾问 & 监督. 论文 研究 involves implementation of the dissertation 研究 design, 收集和分析数据, and reporting and discussion of 研究 findings. 论文 研究 culminates in the successful completion of the dissertation and dissertation oral defense.
